I find it strange that despite all of the grating, teenybopperish "grrl power" in the latest Final Fantasy game, the ending where the female protagonist has finally made her peace with her past and is free to go on her own adventures is considered the "normal" ending, whereas the "good" ending is the one where her man is brought back to life and she returns to her hometown. I find it disappointing that this out-of-nowhere ending totally sabotages the bittersweet quality that made the endiing of the last game good. And the fact that I never actually saw the "good" ending because I didn't press a specific button 4 times during some incoherent cutscene three quarters of the way through the game? Yeah, fuck you, game designers. Anyone want to buy a slightly used video game with a crappy ending?
