Why did the guy who delivers packages to all the apartments in my building have to knock so freaking loud? He nearly gave me a heart attack.

I guess it's so that if I'm sleeping or something, he'll wake me up, and I can answer the door.

But if I'm not here, he just leaves the package outside, or sometimes lets himself in and leaves the package right inside the door. So what does he need me for, anyway?
