Jenn is here for the week - she's headed off to bed after a long day of driving (mine, not hers). Dad was in rare form as usual, but she totally gets his humor, which is good because it makes him feel more comfortable around her. The whole (nuclear) family plus girlfriends ate out at the local Italian chain.

Jenn and family lavished me with presents while I was picking her up, with the theme this year being "cute", and including, but not limited to, a page-a-day calendar featuring pictures of West Highland Terriers, a personalized snowman mug, and a plush of the adorable penguin creature from NeoPets. On the non-cute side were Tony Hawk 4 and the Magnetic Poetry board game, which is notable for having a container shaped like a retro fridge with "Mag-Po" emblazoned across the top.

Also, Jenn got the new Nigella Lawson cookbook, which I mention because it will end up being just as much a present for me in the long run.

Deep-fried candy bars, here I come...
